headform with an indepent moving jaw:
utilizing an advanced Head-Form which was engineered with a jaw, like that of a person.
Head forms generally do not have movable lower jaws and a biomechanical engineer
designed this special Head-form with sensors along the jaw and in and around the TMJ
sockets and base of the skull and brain. Tradditional mouth guards were tested as were
Brain-Pad mouth guards, with an approved helmet secured to the Head-form, like
an athlete does, via the secured chin-cup:
The results of this, and the 2005 Brain-Pad drop Tests, show that helmets Fail the current
standard limit when a traditional mouth guard is used, but Pass when a Brain-Pad mouth guard
is used. Helmets protect the crown and back of the head. But if the front or side
of the facemask take the impact, the helmet's chin-cup drives the lower jaw back into the TMJ sockets.
Wearing a quality helmet, and a Brain-Pad mouth guard, together, creates the most protective safety
system for managing impact forces to the head during contact sports. No other mouth
guard Co.'s have ever tested their guards in this way - It begs the question - Why haven't they . . . ?
